Foundation Degree in Payroll Management

The Foundation Degree in Payroll Management is a three year qualification accredited by the University of Worcester. It is designed to be taken as a full three year Foundation Degree, but can be split into the following CIPP qualifications:

Entry level to the Foundation Degree in Payroll Management is at year one or two, allowing the Foundation Degree to be achieved in three years, or two, depending on experience. Those applying to start the Foundation Degree at year two will be subject to an Accredited Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) interview. This will be a telephone interview which will be arranged at a time and date to suit you.

Who will benefit from the Foundation Degree in Payroll Management?

  • Individuals working in payroll who wish to enhance their skills and knowledge to further their career
  • Payroll staff who want to “prove their worth” and demonstrate their ability to their employer
  • Individuals who wish to develop their confidence and raise their level of expertise in the industry
  • Employed individuals who wish to undertake project work for their organisation; much of what you will learn will be based on your workplace and you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge in your day job

Which year should I start from?

Do you have less than two years experience in payroll?

  • YES, you should enrol on year one of the Foundation Degree in Payroll Management
  • NO, you may want to consider enrolling on year two of the Foundation Degree in Payroll Management

Do you hold a payroll qualification?

  • YES, you may want to consider enrolling on year two of the Foundation Degree in Payroll Management
  • NO, you should enrol on year one of the Foundation Degree in Payroll Management

Approved Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)

The CIPP is pleased to offer potential students of the Foundation Degree in Payroll Management the opportunity to complete this qualification in two years instead of three if you have:

  • At least two years experience in payroll or
  • Achieved a BTEC accredited payroll qualification through the CIPP or another training provider, or
  • Successfully completed the CIPP Payroll Technician Certificate

If you meet one, or more, of the above criteria and wish to enrol at year two, then you will be required to complete a one hour (approx.) telephone interview based on the content from year one of the Foundation degree programme. This interview is known as Approved Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).
