Who is this course aimed at?
Payroll and finance staff who are responsible for specific projects, such as new software implementation, should attend this comprehensive course.

What will I learn?
This David Keffler and Co course is being run in conjunction with the CIPP and will introduce you to the different aspects of project management, from forming a steering group to risk analysis. This is an essential training course for anyone considering a change in their payroll system, or anyone who wants to know how to manage a successful project.

Course content

• The components of the project control cycle: steering group, justification, team, plan, standards, risk and change
• How the project control cycle forms a framework around which the project management and/or selection/implementation process works
• How to create a project justification
• How to form a steering group and a project team
• How to generate a project plan
• How to create a risk analysis register and thereby plan ahead for likely risks
• How to manage changes to the project via the change control register
• How to set out a project budget
• The stages of system selection: justification, specification, RFI/ITT, demonstrations, site visits, conference room pilot, due diligence, final evaluation and contractual negotiation
• The stages of system implementation: provision of hardware/software, system design, system build, system testing, construction of live system, training, go-live and review
