Online events frequently asked questions

With the announcement of the remainder of our 2020 events moving to a virtual environment or being postponed, we have created a summary of the FAQs for delegates and sponsors.

Which online platform are you hosting the event on?

This is still to be confirmed. However, we have short-listed three platforms, all of which are able to accommodate live sessions, question and answer sessions and networking through breakout discussion rooms and 1-2-1 meeting requests.

Attendance at the awards is included, how will you achieve this?

We are running an online awards ceremony on Thursday 15 October and you will receive an invitation to attend. This will be hosted on the same platform as the Annual Conference and Exhibition.

Delegates

How much does the online conference cost to attend?

  • CIPP member with loyalty discount:   £190 + VAT
  • CIPP member without loyalty discount, or non-member with loyalty discount: £290 + VAT
  • Non-member, no loyalty discount (full rate): £390 + VAT

If the event is running online, and you have no venue costs, why is there a cost to attend the event?

Running online events still have costs associated with them. There are costs for the platform and production, but more importantly to you as a delegate, there is the cost of the speakers' time, knowledge and expertise. When you pay to attend an event face to face, you are not paying for the hotel and the lunch/refreshments, you are paying for the skills, knowledge and opportunities that you will gain from that event. Those benefits still exist and are delivered via an online event.

How can you guarantee networking opportunities?

Within the programme we have incorporated networking opportunities through roundtables, chat rooms, networking rooms and live demos.

In addition, the online event platform provides you with the ability to request 1-2-1 meetings with delegates whom you identify as being relevant to you and your business. We recommend that you use this facility to maximise your networking opportunities during the event.

A member of the marketing and sales team will be in contact to discuss this with you further.

The sponsorship package includes an exhibition stand at the event, how will this be accommodated?

We will have an online exhibition which will showcase your organisation. As a sponsor, your logo will be displayed in the online exhibition which can then link to a dedicated landing page. We are still in the process of selecting a final provider, but once this has been confirmed a member of the marketing team will contact you to provide mock-ups of how this looks and works, along with details of what we need from you to maximise your presence in this exhibition.

Our package includes inserts in delegate bags, how will you achieve this?

We are producing online delegate bags for events, and as a sponsor you are able to produce online content for these.

What is the deadline for nominating for an award?

We have taken into account the timing of our announcement for this event moving online, and have decided to extend the nomination deadline by one month. The deadline will now be the 28 August.

I am sponsoring an award, how am I going to be able to present this to the winner in an online environment?

All the sponsored awards presentations will be pre-recorded before the night, we will be in touch with sponsors closer to the date to discuss how this will be done.

Attendance at the drink’s reception is included, how will you achieve this?

We are running an online drinks reception on Monday 7 September and you will receive an invitation to attend. This will be hosted on the same platform as the National Payroll Week Conference and two half bottles of wine will be sent to delegates in advance of the event. Networking sessions have been built into the programme for the networking drinks, and you have the ability to invite delegates to 1-2-1 sessions during the course of the evening.

Which online platform are you hosting the drinks reception on?

This is still to be confirmed. However, we have short-listed three platforms, all of which are able to accommodate networking through breakout discussion rooms and 1-2-1 meeting requests.

How will the wine tasting work?

The CIPP has engaged an organisation who will send two half bottles of wine to the delegates ahead of the event, including the two representatives from sponsoring organisations that are attending. Should anyone not attend on the evening they will be asked to cover the cost of the wine.

How can you guarantee networking opportunities?

Following the wine tasting session we are hosting breakout networking sessions. As a sponsor you will be able to select a breakout room which is suited to you based on the topic and CIPP representative hosting. This will provide you with an opportunity to engage with delegates in a valuable way.

I am sponsoring the National Payroll Week Conference as well as National Payroll Week, what are your plans for that event?

The National Payroll Week conference is also moving online and will be held, as planned, on Thursday 10 September. A separate communication is being issued to confirm the details of this event and answer any outstanding questions.

Graduation Ceremony 2020 (Postponed event)

When will I receive my certificate?

MSc Graduands will receive an e-certificate via their university email accounts, so please check accounts regularly.

A physical certificate will be sent out as and when it is deemed safe to do so.

MSc Graduands will also be invited to a virtual ceremony between 24 – 27 August via Zoom.  The event will also be streamed live on Facebook and Youtube for family members to see.
