European Union (Referendum on the Withdrawal Agreement) Bill

A referendum is to be held on whether the United Kingdom should accept the outcome of the negotiations between the government and the European Union regarding the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union.

The Secretary of State must, by regulations, appoint the day on which the referendum is to be held. The day appointed must not be before 3 May 2018 and must be no later than 28 February 2019.

A report will be published which contains (alone or with other material) a statement setting out what has been agreed by member states following negotiations relating to the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union.

Geographical extent – The European Union (Referendum on the Withdrawal Agreement) Bill 2017-19 extends to the whole of the United Kingdom and to Gibraltar.
