12,500 ?ghosts? on the payroll!
24 November 2014
Many UK employers have had to cleanse their payroll records to be ready for real time information or auto enrolment, but we hope that nobody has found quite as many problems as the Kenyan government have.
Many thanks to the BBC for their report on the confirmation by the Kenyan government that more than 12,500 names of government employees who failed to show up for biometric registration have now been struck off the payroll. The main problem seems to lie with a failure to stop paying leavers, something which is of course not unknown in this country but hopefully never assuming quite the scale of the Kenyan problem.
