Sickness cover to be provided for Uber drivers

04 May 2017

IPSE is the membership body of independent professionals in the UK who make sure the self-employed are represented to government.

IPSE has announced a first of its kind partnership that means UK drivers using the Uber app will now be able to access a range of IPSE membership benefits, including illness and injury cover.

IPSE worked hard with Uber to develop a membership offering for this growing part of self-employment. Bringing drivers who use the app into its membership is part of IPSE’s mission to better reflect the reality of self-employment in the UK.

All active drivers who use the Uber app in the UK (and have completed at least 500 trips) are eligible.

The benefits of drivers joining IPSE include:

  • Sickness and injury cover up to £2,000 – if unable to work for two weeks or more.

  • Jury service cover up to £2,000

  • Access to free advice and support on paying tax as well as personal finance issues such as mortgages, pensions and saving for the future.
