HMRC’s Software Developer Support Team recently shared an updated Starter Checklist, to be used from April 2026.
The new version includes:
- Student Loan plan type 5
- Changes and guidance to make it clear that employees should only select one plan type – even if the employee has multiple plan types
- Clearer instructions for the employer should their employee select multiple plan types.
Employees will only be able to select one plan type on the online version. They will still be able to select Postgraduate Loans as well as one plan type.
