ACAS guidance on flexible working and homeworking

01 July 2014

ACAS has issued the following statement and associated guidance and code of practice:

All employees who have worked for an organisation for more than 26 weeks now have the right to request flexible working arrangements.

This right previously only applied toparents with children under the age of 17 (or 18 if the child is disabled) and certain carers.

There are many forms of flexible working such as part-time working, flexitime, job sharing, shift working or working elsewhere such as homeworking.

Acas has produced a Code of Practice and guidance for employers to help them understand the changes and how to handle requests in a reasonable manner.
