CIPP Survey for Agents preparing for AOSS
23 September 2014
HMRC are currently working to provide an online service for Agents called Agent online Self-Serve (AOSS) alpha testing is ongoing and will move into private beta test phase prior to a wider roll out in a public beta phase, which is anticipated for early 2015.
AOSS aims to deliver access to the PAYE and Liabilities viewer as a first step to delivering this online facility for agents.
For the public beta release HMRC aim to provide:
- a new digital agents’ registration service;
- a new end to end digital authorisation process to make it easier for agents to let us know when they take on a new client; and
- a personalised agents’ “homepage” that will enable agents to view and manage their clients’ tax affairs in one place
Agents will continue to use their Government Gateway credentials to access the AOSS service and not Identity assurance (IDA) as had been previously proposed. Early testing suggested that the process required with IDA was convoluted and the many steps required would not provide an efficient option for getting agents up and running on the new service as quickly as possible.
But before agents can access AOSS a certain amount of preparation or housekeeping will need to take place, specifically Agents will need to check that their client lists are up to date, that they are accurate and that they have the correct 64-8 authorisations in place for the correct services.
The CIPP have put together a very short survey to establish the impact this need will have on you, as payroll providers and agents, in preparing to access Agent online self serve.
Volunteers will also be needed for the private beta testing stage for using the PAYE and Liabilities viewer, if you would be interested in being involved with the early test stage please contact Samantha Mann, CIPP Senior Policy & Research Officer via firstname.lastname@example.org adding AOSS testing in the subject line, thank you.
