The deadline for applications to the EU Settlement Scheme falls this month

02 June 2021

Reminders have been circulated in relation to the fast-approaching deadline for applications to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS), which falls on 30 June 2021.

Any EU, EEA and Swiss citizens and their family members who were resident within the UK by 31 December 2020 should ensure that they apply to the scheme by the deadline date to continue working and accessing free healthcare and benefits in the UK following 30 June 2021. Applications can be submitted online here.

Applications must be made in relation to every eligible child within a family, and parents should check if they need to apply to the EUSS for their children, even where they have already applied and been granted a status themselves.

Individuals who are EU, EEA or Swiss citizens, and their family members, who have resided in the UK for many years or who hold a permanent residence document or EEA Biometric Residence Card (BRC) are still required to apply to the EUSS by the same deadline of 30 June 2021.

Irish citizens and anyone with indefinite leave are not required to apply but are able to if they want to.

Those who have successfully applied to the EUSS can find their pre-settled or settled status online and can access a ‘share code’ which proves their status to others. This could be provided to employers for example.
