Apprentices at the Solihull-based Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) met with local MP Lorely Burt as she pledged her support for National Apprenticeship Week 2015.

During her visit to the CIPP office in Solihull, Lorely met with Natasha Taylor, Tom Roberts, Brad Carpenter all of whom are Apprentices with the CIPP.

Natasha from Stourbridge, is currently studying for her Level Two Diploma in Business Administration. She said: “I’m really enjoying my Apprenticeship programme and it’s great to learn real-life skills in the working world. The CIPP is a great environment to learn in and all of my colleagues have been really supportive during my time here. I’m looking forward to the future and gaining a valuable qualification at the end of my course.”

Solihull MP Lorely Burt added: “Apprenticeships are a top priority for the coalition government and Solihull is leading the way with over 8,400 created since 2010. It is always great to meet young people earning and learning at the same time and I wish all of the Apprentices at the CIPP the very best of luck in their future endeavours. They all seem to be really enjoying themselves and it’s always wonderful to see a local company getting actively involved in a national initiative.”

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, the CIPP – the Chartered association for payroll and pensions professionals in the UK – is calling on companies across the UK to take part in its #100in100days Apprenticeship challenge and actively work alongside the CIPP to help train 100 payroll stars of the future.

Head of the Professional Careers Academy at the CIPP, Dave Martin said: “We’re celebrating our 30th anniversary this year and we’re strong advocates of Apprenticeship programmes. Our Apprentices are really flourishing and we’re looking forward to supporting them on their career progression. We know first-hand the benefits it can bring to an organisation to have Apprentices on-board and we’re calling on companies to learn for themselves the true benefit of supporting National Apprenticeship Week.”

Co-ordinated by the Skills Funding Agency, National Apprenticeship Week includes hundreds of events and activities across England. Currently, more than 100,000 employers in England offer Apprenticeships in 200,000 locations, covering more than 170 industries and 1,500 different job roles.
