Funds raised for Babygrow Appeal

13 May 2014

Paul Swarbrick, Payroll Specialist at Airbus Group, Broughton completed the Wirral Coastal Walk on Sunday 11 May in typical May weather.

Paul is fundraising for the Babygrow Appeal which was launched in December 2012, this major appeal has a target of £3million to build a new Neonatal Unit more than double the size of the one they currently have. This will enable them to provide patients and their families with a more spacious environment and a greater degree of privacy. The new unit will have its own separate entrance and will include a counselling room and play room for siblings, along with larger nurseries and areas for families to have some quiet time.

The charity is close to Paul because on the 7 February 2014, Paul's daughter Millie was born prematurely at 31 Weeks and three days after her mum, Emma, suffered from a two week episode of severe pre-eclampsia.

The walk was a real challenge in very windy conditions particularly on the Mersey Estuary and Irish Sea side of the peninsula - Paul said afterwards, “My wife Emma, SonAaron and a fellow mum Michaela alongside Guides from Emma's troop completed the 15 miles in the head win we had in just over six hours. Although typically as we turned the corner onto the Dee Estuary the wind was behind us and the sun came out for the last three or so miles.

We really hope that you can support us by sponsoring us at the Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/MKS7214/or by texting MKSS81 and either £1, £2, £3, £5 or £10 to 70070.
