The CIPP calling on businesses in Scotland to help train the payroll stars of tomorrow

18 May 2015

The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) is backing Scottish Apprenticeship Week and called on companies to work alongside the organisation to help train the payroll stars of tomorrow.

The CIPP – the Chartered Institution for payroll and pensions professionals in the UK – was successful in its bid for a contract with Skills Development Scotland (SDS) to deliver modern apprenticeships in payroll.

In addition, the CIPP has also recently opened an office in Glasgow allowing it to provide more training courses and offer additional support to Scottish members.

National lead for Scotland, Allan Isdale said: “We’re actively calling on businesses in Scotland to work alongside the CIPP to help train the payroll stars of tomorrow during Scottish Apprenticeship Week. This year sees the CIPP mark its 30th anniversary and we’re more passionate than ever about helping the payroll industry to move forward and help to nuture the

budding stars of tomorrow. Our role in Scotland continues to go from strength-to-strength and we’re incredibly excited to lend our support to Scottish Apprenticeship Week.”

The Skills Development Scotland (SDS) campaign, now in its fifth year, highlights the benefits apprenticeships bring to employers, individuals and the local economy.

SDS Chief Executive, Damien Yeates, said: “Modern Apprenticeships work for employers of all sizes, from family firms to global companies. Scottish Apprenticeship Week celebrates Modern Apprentice employers and the achievements of apprentices, who play a vital and valuable role in Scotland’s economy.”

Following the successful funding bid, it is an exciting time for the CIPP north of the border, having recently worked alongside Aberdeen-based activpayroll to launch a pioneering training academy designed to help train activpayroll’s UK payroll team of 25 staff.

The CIPP also recently saw its membership soar past the 10,000 mark following support from a leading human resources and payroll technology provider, Ceridian. The announcement means that every Ceridian employee in the UK is now a CIPP member, effectively doubling membership of the Institution over the past eighteen months.
