The CIPP shows support for Learning at Work Week

18 May 2015

The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) is backing Learning at Work Week with a bespoke mentoring scheme aimed at helping its apprentices learn more about the organisation.

The CIPP – the Chartered Institution for payroll and pensions professionals in the UK –  hosted a special event on Monday designed to support the week-long initiative that runs until 22 May. Each of the six apprentices at the CIPP swapped departments for a morning, giving them a broader overview of how the organisation operates and the wider business strategy.

Launching the event, Mr Lindsay Melvin, Chief executive officer at the CIPP, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Learning at Work Week and we’re pleased to be able to give our own apprentices a broader overview of our organisation. The CIPP is a proud advocate of helping employees to learn at work and this initiative is an ideal fit for the CIPP to support. It’s a wonderful concept and we’re hoping our apprentices find it just as useful. We may even find the future CEO of the CIPP following the event!”

CIPP apprentice Brad Carpenter is studying for an apprenticeship in Business Administration. “It’s been a really worthwhile experience to be able to learn more about different departments and I’ve gained real insight into how different departments in the organisation work together to help support the business,” he said. “I have a real passion for marketing and public relations and I was able to learn more about writing press releases and working across social media channels. It’s been a great experience and its certainly given me plenty of thought about which area I might like to work in as my career develops.”

As part of the initiative, the CIPP is offering a five per cent discount off all training courses booked during Learning at Work Week. To take advantage, simply head online to cipp online to cipp.org.uk for more information. Please use the code L@WW15 when booking.
