CIPP marks continued expansion

28 May 2015

The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) is celebrating the launch of two new offices based in India and Scotland respectively.

The CIPP - the Chartered Institution for payroll and pensions professionals in the UK – has recently opened one office based in Glasgow with another based in Mumbai in India set to open shortly.

The new office in Scotland will be managed by the CIPP’s National lead for Scotland, Allan Isdale. Meanwhile, the office in India will be managed by the National Academy of Indian Payroll (NAIP) on behalf of the CIPP.

The announcement further cements the role of the CIPP in India, of which it is currently the key international strategic partner to the National Academy of Indian Payroll (NAIP). The CIPP has also been delivering UK payroll training since 2007 to global providers based in India such as ADP and NGA.

Historically the CIPP has worked alongside ADP and NGA in India to deliver the CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management providing valuable core payroll knowledge and skills to their service centre teams.

The new office in Mumbai will also allow the CIPP’s Associate director of qualifications, Elaine Gibson, to work from the premises during National Payroll Week, set to run from 7 to 11 September here in the UK. Elaine will be delivering UK payroll training in India as part of Indian National Payroll Week which runs alongside the UK event.

During the week, Elaine will be speaking at the NGA NPW event and attending a celebration for those NGA India team members who have attained their CIPP education. In addition, Elaine will also be taking the opportunity to meet with a number of CIPP overseas customers.

Chief executive officer at the CIPP, Mr Lindsay Melvin, said: “We’re delighted to be able to announce our continued expansion with the opening of these two new offices and in particular, building on the excellent relationship we already have with NAIP in India and other payroll organisations based in the country.

“In addition, having a permanent presence in Scotland will enable us to run more training and events there, plus it will enable us to better support our Scottish members.”

It is hoped the new office in Scotland will also help the CIPP to generate new business leads, whilst assisting in recruiting and placing apprenticeships across Scotland following its successful partnership with activpayroll.

This announcement marks a busy couple of months for the CIPP, having recently seen its membership soar to the 10,000 mark. It followed support from Ceridian, a leading payroll and human resources service provider, effectively doubling membership of the Institute over the past 18 months. The announcement means that every Ceridian employee in the UK is now a CIPP member.
