EU Settlement Scheme deadline – 30 June 2021

29 June 2021

All EU, EEA and Swiss citizens, and their family members, who were resident in the UK by 31 December 2020, must apply to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) by no later than 30 June 2021.

Individuals can apply to the scheme online to secure their rights in UK law to allow them to continue to work, study, and access benefits and free healthcare in the UK following 30 June 2021.

There is a reminder that applications must be submitted for every eligible child within a family, and parents should check if they need to apply to the scheme for their children, even where they have applied for and been granted a status themselves.

EU, EEA or Swiss citizens and their family members who have resided in the UK for a number of years, or who have a permanent resident document or EEA Biometric Residence Card (BRC) are still required to apply to the EUSS by the deadline of 30 June 2021 to secure their rights in the UK.

Irish citizens and anyone with indefinite leave are not required to apply but have the option of doing so if they wish. British citizens, including naturalised British citizens, do not need to apply.

There is help available for anybody who needs additional support, and the list of support services can be found here. If technological difficulties are encountered when applying online, then Assisted Digital can be contacted on 03333 445 675. Alternatively, they can be emailed at [email protected].
