06 September 2021
Yesterday was the first day of National Payroll Week, and what a day it was. We had a policy team update from speakers Samantha Johnson, Gemma Mullis, and Lora Murphy, which was later followed by our first CIPP bitesize training of the week with Fiona Smith, who provided a short training session on using the tax tables to do a simple tax calculation.
With even more great events coming up in the next couple of days, book your place now.
Tuesday 7 September
Join Lisa Kemp, Associate Director at Thursfields Solicitors, from 12:30pm-1:15pm, as she provides a short introduction to some of the recent challenges she has experienced with holiday pay legislation. Afterwards, we will break into groups to share views, knowledge and experiences. This session is a great opportunity to connect with others across the payroll industry on this hot topic.
Also, just as she did yesterday, Fiona Smith is back at 2:00pm-2:45pm with another CIPP bitesize training, this time tackling payrolling benefits. As another year's P11D deadline passes, have you been thinking about moving to payrolling benefits? Or do you already payroll benefits but would like to feel more confident? In this bitesize training session, Fiona will show you how to payroll a benefit.
Wednesday 8 September
From 10:00am-11:00am, join Polly Sinclair, Programme Tutor from West Suffolk College, as she explores how you can create a culture of proactive learning and development in your team so that even in times of stress, they are growing to support your organisation. CIPP's education director, Dr Sue Smith, will join Polly and will be happy to answer your questions about the CIPP's qualifications.
Later on that day, join Head of Reward and Deputy Director of Human Resources at University of Lincoln, Ian Hodson, as he hosts a discussion group with the topic of 'Financial Wellbeing'. He'll explore the role payroll has on the financial wellbeing of colleagues and employees and Ian will share his thoughts in a short introduction before breaking into groups to share your views. This will be the perfect chance for you to discuss the challenges facing the payroll industry to consider financial wellbeing with colleagues in the profession.
