The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) has announced that Matthew Taylor, author of the Taylor Review, will be appointed the Chair of the Fair Work Agency.
The agency is due to form in April 2026 and will enforce and protect workers rights across several areas, including National Minimum Wage, holiday pay and employment law.
Taylor led the Taylor Review of Modern Working Practices in 2026 which forms the basis of many of the reforms we currently see in the Employment Rights Bill.
He Said:
“For years inside and outside Government I argued that employers and workers need a single enforcement body for employment rights.
“It is an honour to be asked to be the first Chair of the Fair Work Agency, the body that will meet that need.
“The Agency has a vital job in strengthening labour market compliance and enforcement. This is essential to provide workers with protection and employers with a supportive and level playing field on which to invest and grow.”
