Government consults on National Minimum Wage consolidated Regulations

28 July 2014

Following on from the ongoing consultation into the National Minimum Wage (NMW) generally, the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) has now launched a separate consultation into new consolidated Regulations.

As part of the Red Tape Challenge, the government concluded that the 1999 NMW Regulations and the later amending Regulations should be combined. BIS have also taken the opportunity to update the drafting to be as clear as possible. They are now consulting on the revisions.

The changes to the Regulations are ostensibly purely mechanical, and should not include any policy changes. The Policy Team will consider whether this is the case, and will issue a survey if appropriate.
