The Entertainer takes Payroll Giving to its stores

Toy retailer, The Entertainer, has recently launched an innovative and ambitious initiative to encourage greater take up of their payroll giving scheme which allows their employees to give to the charity of their choice direct from their salary.

The #5yearsofGiving campaign will see Area Managers visit each of the 125 stores to encourage employees to take a team celebration selfie with a giant ‘Entertainergram’ selfie board and share the success on social media using #5yearsofGiving. Employees who strike the best poses will be rewarded with a £250 prize to be donated to the winner’s charity of choice, with two overall winner prizes of £500.

Gary Grant, Founder and Managing Director of The Entertainer, comments: “Payroll Giving allows all our employees to give to the charity of their choice, in the most tax effective way, direct from their earnings. In 5 years we have gone from zero to 45% which is a reflection of our employees’ huge generosity, but also shows the popularity among staff of this form of giving.

Over the last five years we have raised a fantastic £369,000 for UK charities via Payroll Giving and so #5YearsofGiving is the perfect opportunity to thank every single member of staff but to also encourage other retailers and businesses to do the same.”

The Entertainer plans to further reward their employees generosity later this year by giving every employee’s chosen charity an extra £5 on Tuesday 29th November as a thank you for taking part, which will generate a further estimated £6,500.

Payroll Giving is an easy to administer scheme which allows employees to contribute to charities through their pay in the most tax effective way.
