HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has published April’s edition of the pension scheme newsletter - 180. Giving a summary of all the latest pensions related announcements and updates.
Including updates on the following areas:
- Pension scheme return (PSR) – HMRC confirms that pension scheme returns are now handled via the Managing Pension Schemes (MPS) service
- lifetime allowance (LTA) protection and enhancements – a reminder that the unauthenticated look up route is closed. If you try to access the previous route, you’ll be redirected to sign in to the managing pension schemes service
- digitisation of relief at source (DigiRAS) – a reminder to use the new deconsolidated relief at source references for historically grouped together schemes
- relief at source returns – the deadline for submitting the 2025 to 2026 annual return is 5 July 2026
- pension schemes migration to the Managing pension schemes service - HMRC reiterates that pension schemes must continue to migrate fully from Pension Scheme Online to the MPS service
- normal minimum pension age – transitional guidance that will support the increase to the normal minimum pension age from age 55 to age 57 on 6 April 2028
- pension flexibility statistics – the tax repayment figures for the period 1 January 2026 to 31 March 2026
- registration statistics – scheme registration data for 2025 to 2026.
