Now the General Election date has been set and parliament has been officially dissolved, we enter the pre-election period, previously known as ‘purdah’.

During this time, there are special rules which govern the working responsibilities of ministers, local governments and civil servants. This includes limiting certain duties and placing restrictions on what can be announced or released to the public.

As a result, many of the government forums and groups we sit on have been cancelled until after the election. There will also be limitations on the discussions we can have with some of our government contacts.

There's also uncertainty over existing projects. If the election does bring a change of government with different ideas and plans, current work could be delayed or even scrapped.

The policy team will continue to monitor any developments and report any updates as they arise.
