For our last quick poll, we asked: do you collect ethnicity and disability data? This is in relation to the announcement from a new Labour government that they intend to widen the scope of pay gap reporting to include ethnicity and disability reporting.
The results are in and here is what you said:
Answer |
% answered |
No, only HR hold this information |
40 |
No, this data is not collected at all |
36 |
Yes, in joint HR/payroll software |
19.5 |
Yes, in the payroll software |
4.5 |
As you can see from these results, the vast proportion of respondents either do not collect such data or the data is collected for HR use only. Around 20% of respondents are in the position where the data is captured in a joint HR and payroll software, but less than 5% of payroll professionals have this in a dedicated payroll software.
This leads us to believe that further pay gap reporting would require a more linked up approach with HR in many businesses. While we have very little information about how future plans from the government will be structured, this is definitely something worth thinking about for businesses that are likely to have this new requirement placed upon them.
