Would your business welcome Paternity and Shared Parental Leave becoming a day one right?

22 April 2015

One of the pledges in the recently published Liberal Democrat Manifesto 2015 is to double the length of paternity leave and make Paternity and Shared Parental Leave a ‘day one’ right.

The Liberal Democrat Manifesto 2015 states:

“We will:

Encourage employers to provide more flexible working, expanding Shared Parental Leave with an additional ‘use it or lose it’ month to encourage fathers to take time off with young children. While changes to parental leave should be introduced slowly to give business time to adjust, our ambition is to see Paternity and Shared Parental Leave become a ‘day one’ right.”

The CIPP would be interested to know what impact the introduction of a ‘day one’ right to Paternity and Shared Parental Leave may have on payroll and employers.

Please take a moment to complete our quick poll which asks ‘Would your business welcome Paternity and Shared Parental Leave becoming a day one right?’. The poll is located on the bottom right of the CIPP’s home page.

One of the pledges in the Conservative Manifesto is to give those who work for a big company and the public sector a new workplace entitlement to Volunteering Leave for three days a year, on full pay.

Last week our quick poll question was ‘Do you currently have access to paid Volunteering Leave?’ The results from 49 responses were:

  • Yes - 39%
  • No - 55%
  • Not Yet - 6%
