GOV.UK once again publishing incorrect information

02 February 2015

Readers may have seen a news item we published today saying that the rates and thresholds for 2015-16 had been made available on GOV.UK. Be aware that we have had several errors reported to us.

We have since deleted this item from our news pages in an attempt to avoid sending readers to incorrect information.

Without going through all the numbers with a fine toothcomb, so far members have reported that the annual tax threshold is incorrect, the SMP rates are from 2014-15 and there are incorrect NI categories and percentages…

If readers spot any errors please do use the ‘what’s wrong with this page’ link at the bottom of the page.

The CIPP is extremely disappointed that there continue to be so many fundamental errors within GOV.UK guidance. We arranged a meeting with HMRC in December to discuss the numerous issues that members had been experiencing and this was cancelled at very short notice by HMRC. Again, this is extremely disappointing given the level of dissatisfaction with the transference of guidance to GOV.UK. It is vital that HMRC engage with us to address these issues and we will be raising this as a matter of urgency at the next EPG (Employment Payroll Group) meeting at the beginning of March.

The CIPP’s fact card will be available after the Budget on 18 March but in the meantime the information on GOV.UK cannot be relied upon.
