SCOTTISH AGRICULTURAL WAGES

The Scottish Agricultural Wages Board has agreed proposed wage rates from October 2011.

The basic rate of pay for agricultural workers with more than 26 weeks continuous employment will increase by 16p per hour to £6.67, bringing the minimum wage for a 39 hour week to £260.13.

The proposed hourly rates are:

  • £6.11 (an increase of 15p per hour) for those in the first 26 weeks of employment
  • £6.67 for those employed for more that 26 weeks by the same employer
  • £3.70 for workers who undertake a Level 2 Modern Apprenticeship in Agriculture

Workers with appropriate qualifications should also be paid an additional £1.01 per hour.

Those working with dogs should receive an allowance of £5.06 per week for each dog, up to a maximum of four.

The Board unanimously agreed to increase the holiday entitlement by one day to 28 days per year, in addition to Christmas Day and New Year's Day, which remain as special holidays.
