Both of The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2026 and The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order (Northern Ireland) 2026 have been laid before their respective parliaments.

From 6 April 2026 these Orders increases the limits (maximum or minimum) applying to certain awards of Employment Tribunals and other amounts payable under employment legislation, such as statutory redundancy payments.

 

Great Britain

  • The new statutory cap on a week’s pay increases from £719 to £751 (redundancy pay)
  • The minimum basic award for certain automatically unfair dismissals increases to £9,157
  • The limit on the amount of compensatory award for unfair dismissals increases to £115,115.

 

Northern Ireland

  • The new statutory cap on a week’s pay increases from £749 to £783 (redundancy pay)
  • The minimum basic award for certain automatically unfair dismissals increases to £9,512
  • The limit on the amount of compensatory award for unfair dismissals increases to £123,785.
