A reminder to stay vigilant….

24 August 2021

Unfortunately, unscrupulous individuals and organisations are still trying to scam people out of money, and the CIPP wants to ensure that nobody falls victim to crimes of this nature.

If contact is made out of the blue, and requests are made for either money or personal information, or both, the advice is to exercise extreme caution. It has been reported that there are still high numbers of fraudsters calling, emailing, or texting individuals purporting to be from HMRC, when in reality, they are not.

Neither money nor personal information should be provided where anything seems suspicious, and instead HMRC should be contacted straight away. Further information on scams is available here.

There is also a useful guide from the National Cyber Security Centre which advises how to stay secure online, which can be located here.
