The government is consulting on the fair and transparent distribution of tips following the publication the draft code of practice.

Employers in England, Scotland and Wales will need to abide by new rules that aim to come into force later this year on 1 July 2024. This consultation seeks to understand how employers or those in charge of tips will be handling the new rules with staff members.

While not focussed on the payroll profession, the government is seeking views from troncmasters and payroll professionals on their involvement. The CIPP have heard concerns from troncmasters operating independently from a business regarding the fees they charge. The CIPP will therefore be asking for further clarification on the rules in guidance as asked within the consultation.

The consultation can be completed online or you can email your thoughts to [email protected].

As always, you can also share your views with us via the “have your say” submission box, right here on the CIPP news pages. Just remember that this is anonymous, unless you are signed into your CIPP account, so we are not able to respond, it is just one of the ways you can share your thoughts with us and have your voice heard.
