Following consultations of the draft code of practice, the Department of Business and Trade (DBT) has release the full code on the allocation of tips rules.
Under the new rules, employees will need to receive all tips, gratuities and service fees paid to a business and their distribution should be fair, as outlined in the code of practice. The release also confirms that the new rules will commence on 1 October 2024, a date that could have moved due to the change in government.
Make sure you have taken the code into account with processes around tips if you work in an industry where they are common.
