The government launched the ‘Retained EU employment law reforms’ consultation on 12 May 2023. The consultation welcomes views on reforms to the Working Time Regulations (WTR), holiday pay and the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE).

This consultation sets out proposals for key areas of retained EU employment law that the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is responsible for. This consultation closes on 7 July 2023.

The consultation seeks views on three areas of retained EU employment law which could benefit from reform:

  • record keeping requirements under the WTR
  • simplifying annual leave and holiday pay calculations in the WTR
  • consultation requirements under the TUPE.

Alongside DBT representatives, the CIPP policy team are holding a think tank on 19 June 2023, to discuss the proposed new ways of simplifying annual leave and holiday pay calculations. This is a topic of conversation we want as many of you to be involved in as possible, as it’s bound to have a huge impact on the payroll profession. We look forward to this event, as this could shape future policy, legislation or processes of the payroll profession.
