HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has published a guidance page on GOV.UK for the no return declarations of Class1A National Insurance contributions.

The page itself is short on information but links to the relevant government gateway area to make such a declaration. The page states that:

“You only need to tell HMRC you have no return of Class 1A National Insurance contributions to make if:

  • we have sent you a P11D(b) or a P11D(b) reminder letter
  • you have not paid any taxable expenses or benefits to any employees”

This may be helpful to those who have received a reminder letter and are concerned that they have nothing to declare.
