New flexible season tickets will be available to reflect modern working practices

22 June 2021

The Department for Transport has confirmed that a new selection of flexible rail season tickets will be made available to compliment the new hybrid working approach that many employees will be adopting as coronavirus restrictions begin to ease.

In addition to this, an online ‘season ticket calculator’ will be launched to help commuters in establishing the cheapest option that is available to them. This will be based on their journeys, working pattern and also on their individual needs.

There has been a decline in the use of the traditional season ticket, as many businesses are now allowing staff to alter their traditional working patterns, and to spread their time between working from home and working out of the office - a practice which has been accelerated due to the pandemic.
