HM Revenue and customs (HMRC) has released a Guidelines for Compliance (GfC) to assist with the treatment of Freeports, this is titled Help with Freeports – GfC14.
The documents detail the tax reliefs available for businesses within freeports, for pay professionals, items such as National Insurance (NI) benefits will be of importance. However, the guidance does also detail customs treatments and allowances regarding buildings, plant and machinery, and stamp duty.
It highlights common errors businesses can make to help you avoid falling into the same traps and directs to the particular legislation which cover Freeports and associated tax treatments.
