The latest version of HMRC Basic PAYE Tools is now available for 2026-27. It is important to ensure you are using the correct version from the start of the new tax year, alongside any payroll software updates.
Currently, the newest version to use is 26.0.26069.145147. The version number displays in the bottom-left corner of the tool.
To update HMRC Basic PAYE Tools:
- Select ‘Check now’ in the update section of settings, in the top right-hand corner of the tool.
- HMRC recommends you set the automatic update to ‘yes’.
HMRC Basic PAYE Tools is free to use for businesses that employ 10 or fewer employees. It may also be used alongside another payroll software but always ensure that you are using the latest version.
