Kickstart Scheme employees must start on or before 31 March 2022
29 March 2022
In order to receive funding from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) for young workers on the Kickstart Scheme, they must start their new job on or before 31 March 2022.
Grant agreements needed to be signed and returned by 7 January 2022 and vacancies submitted to DWP by 31 January 2022. No new applications or amendments are allowed at this time.
The DWP should be informed about the new starter as soon as possible, by 30 April 2022 at the latest. Once they have been informed, the initial £1,500 grant to cover set-up costs will be processed. Six weeks after the start date further payments will be made every 30 days up to the 26 weeks covered by the grant.
The grant will cover:
• 25 hours each week at the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage for the workers age bracket at the end of the 26 week period. (if a young person start at age 17 but turns 18 before the end of the 26 week period the funding will cover National Minimum Wage for an 18 year old from the first day)
• National Insurance contributions
• Minimum workplace pension contributions
Should an employee leave early, the DWP should be informed, and the next scheduled payment will be the last.
