Paper £5 notes to be withdrawn from circulation

The new Bank of England polymer £5 note featuring Sir Winston Churchill replaces the old paper £5 note which will be withdrawn on 5 May 2017.
The only £5 note that will be legal tender after this date is the polymer £5 which was introduced in September 2016.
The paper £5 notes which feature a portrait of Elizabeth Fry, can be spent until 5 May 2017 but after this date they can be exchanged at the Bank of England either in person or by post.
The new polymer £10 note will be issued in September 2017, featuring Jane Austen. And the new £20 note will be introduced by 2020.
