Payroll professionals are classified as key workers

20 March 2020

Following on from speculation this morning, the CIPP has contacted the Department for Education to seek clarification, and it has been confirmed that payroll professionals would definitely be classified as key workers.

The advice provided was that payroll roles would fit squarely within the category of “utilities, communications and financial services”, and there was no doubt that a payroller would be deemed a key worker.

This means that those who work within the payroll profession and have children should contact their child’s school or nursery as soon as possible to confirm whether they will still be able to send their child during the outbreak of coronavirus and to discuss arrangements.
