We have asked before, but as time draws closer for the decision to be made it is important to reassess our understanding of how the payroll world is handling future changes.
We asked: “Are you planning to payroll benefits in 2025 before it becomes mandatory in 2026?”
And here are the results:

No, we already payroll all possible benefits |
25% |

No, we will wait until 2026 |
37% |

Yes |
38% |
This means that almost two-thirds (63% of respondents) will be payrolling all possible benefits from 2025. Remember, if you are starting to do this for the first time, or payrolling new benefit types, you will need to register with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and let them know before 6 April.
Still, a large proportion of employers are waiting until they are forced to payroll benefits in 2026.
Thank you to all who responded, keep an eye out for our next Quick Poll soon.
