The last Quick Poll asked about the currently running Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) consultation. Namely, the rate of average weekly earnings that someone earning below the current lower earnings limit should be paid when on SSP.
Well, the results are in and here are a few key points to highlight from the results.
- The average value was 70%. We had results all the way from 1% to 100%
- The median value was 90%, with over 27% of respondents indicating this as the preferred percentage. With this being a familiar rate for SMP it’s unsurprising that payroll professionals opted for this number
- Very closely behind were the responses for 100%, with 26% of the responses.
This will feed into our consultation response to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and ensure that the voice of the payroll profession is heard. Members can keep an eye out for this in the MyCIPP section of the website.
Thank you again for all who responded and look out for the next Quick Poll soon.
