The Living Wage Foundation has increased the real living wage by 6.7% in the UK and 6.9% in London. Employers have six months to implement the increase by 1 May 2026.
The Real Living Wage has been uplifted to £13.45 per hour and £14.80 in London, a welcome increase for more than 490,000 employees of the 16,000 employers that are signed up to pay the Real Living Wage.
The Low Pay Commission is due to present its National Minimum Wage (NMW) and National Living Wage (NLW) recommendations to the government in the next week, and the new NMW rate from April 2026 is expected to be announced in the days before the budget on 26 November.
