IN HM Revenue and Customs’ (HMRC’s) long battle against tax avoidance schemes, it has issued guidance for agency workers on how to spot if you are involved in a scheme when moving between umbrella companies.
The guidance, spotlight 71 in its series of topical guidance releases, breaks down:
- Warning signs of tax avoidance
- What to do if these signs apply
- Paying tax
It is highlighted that:
“It’s your responsibility to make sure that you know how much tax and National Insurance you should be paying.”
As well as the above, additional resources are pointed out to ensure impacted individuals have the information available to them to make the appropriate choices.
