The Administrative Burdens Advisory Board (ABAB) has released the results of the 2022 to 2023 Tell ABAB survey. They survey provides feedback to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) about the administrative burdens placed on small businesses with data provided by small businesses and agents.
This year, over 7,000 respondents answered the survey, and it covers the following areas:
- Making Tax Digital
- customs importing and exporting
- Off-payroll working
- Basis Period Reform
- simplifying forms
- working from home and nomadic workers
- Time To Pay
- HMRC communications and engagement.
ABAB will prepare and submit their annual report for 2023 to the financial secretary to the Treasury in December. With some of the responses in the survey showing HMRC have significant room for improvements, the report will review their progress against ABAB’s priorities set in 2022 and make further suggestions.
