The ‘Tell ABAB’ survey is now available

The annual ‘Tell ABAB’ survey aims to give small businesses a big voice in the tax system and is now available to complete.

The survey is commissioned by an independent body, the Administrative Burdens Advisory Board (ABAB) and  provides crucial insight on the big issues faced by small businesses in the tax system. The survey is open until 2 May 2023 and results will be published in Summer 2023, in the ‘Tell ABAB’ report on GOV.UK.

GOV.UK states:

‘‘The Administrative Burdens Advisory Board is passionate about listening to and understanding the needs of the small business community. Board members come from a range of businesses and professions, and their goal is to support HMRC to make the tax system quicker and simpler for small businesses.

The Administrative Burdens Advisory Board challenges HMRC on its performance, providing robust scrutiny against key initiatives such as, Making Tax Digital and improving customer experience. Their annual report, which is sent directly to Treasury ministers, reviews HMRC’s progress against Administrative Burdens Advisory Board priorities.’’

This survey gives small businesses in the UK (including sole traders, self-employed, micro-businesses and organisations with fewer than 51 employees) the opportunity to provide insight into the tax system that ABAB can use to support businesses. Feedback allows the ABAB to work with HMRC to influence and target future improvements in the way the tax system is administered.
