The policy team requested additional information from HM Revenue and Customs after they announced changes to the Advisory Fuel Rates.
We have now received the response as follows:
“As these rates are an admin easement they aren’t accompanied by detailed guidance.
For fully electric cars where journeys are mixed (public charging and home charging), as with other easements, we’d expect employers to use a reasonable method of apportionment.”
We will be following up to understand if there is any indication as to what a ‘reasonable method’ might look like. We will update again if we receive further clarity.
