Incorrect Generic Notice Service message

01 July 2020

HMRC have issued an alert on gov.uk saying to ignore incorrect Postgraduate stop notices that were issued to employers between 26 and 29 June.

HMRC are aware some employers have incorrectly received a Generic Notice Service (GNS) message between 26 June and 29 June 2020 to advise them to stop Postgraduate Loan deductions.

Please ignore this prompt and continue to take deductions under the relevant plan or loan type as instructed by the start notice SL1 or PGL1.

HMRC have now removed this GNS message so that it cannot be viewed on the customer’s online portal or downloaded via 3rd party software. Unfortunately, the initial emails advising that there is a GNS message cannot be recalled.

HMRC apologise for inconvenience caused.
