14 March 2022

With the financial new year fast approaching, and a lot to be aware of, we wanted to know how many of you have or are planning to attend an update session/course.

With the festivities of Christmas and new year over, the payroll profession looks toward April and the plethora of changes it brings. This year we have the new Health and Social Care Levy, changes to the National Minimum Wage, student loan news, changes to home worker payments and much more. With so much to take in, it’s no surprise that many outlets offer update courses to cover all the things you need to know ahead of April, such as the payroll update that CIPP offers and the BeConnected: National Forum webinars.

Over two thirds of you indicated that you had attended, or will attend, a year end update course, which is fantastic news. However, that still leaves 32% of respondents that don’t intend, haven’t considered or don’t know if they wish to take part in such a course.

With non-compliance and enforcement action from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) carrying hefty fines and penalties, it is essential that you and your business are confident of the changes coming in April. Keeping up with these changes is a part of the continued professional development payroll professionals need to stay compliant with all the latest rules and regulations.

Thank you to all the respondents who took the time to complete our Quick Poll.
