ALL PARLIAMENTARY GROUP ON TAXATION

19 April 2011

The All Party Parliamentary Group on Taxation has published its latest report. This report looked at the services of HMRC and where improvements might be made.

Karen Thomson from the CIPP Policy Team was involved with the research and is pleased to see that some of the outcomes and recommendations are shared by the CIPP. The report recommends two way communication via email and reducing the number of letters being issued and received by HMRC. The report acknowledges the inconsistencies with the Employer Helpline and highlights the perceived fall in expertise within HMRC staff. This has been a concern of the CIPP and in particular the policy team for some time as the budget cuts start to bite.
