Charity BBQ helps raise vital funds

14 September 2015

A local organisation, which represents people who work in payroll and pensions around the UK, attempted to brighten up the summer yesterday with their annual charity BBQ and family fun day in aid of two charities. The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) held the event yesterday at their HQ in Shirley, Solihull and raised £215 which will be split between Cancer Research UK and Acorns.

Staff and their families gathered in the association’s garden where they volunteered and helped run the tombola, raffle, penalty shootout and other fun activities. In addition, there was a cake sale and a delicious BBQ.

The annual event is part of the organisations wider celebrations for National Payroll Week (NPW), which helps shine a light on the role payroll plays in educating the nation. The CIPP is dedicated to raising the profile of payroll within businesses and has had a presence within Solihull for the past 30 years.

Lindsay Melvin, CIPP CEO, said: "The CIPP annual BBQ is a chance for us to give something back to our local community which has supported us for so long. I would like to thank all our staff for helping raise so much money and we hope our donations will make a difference.”
