Lora Murphy, CIPP senior policy liaison officer, provides a brief overview of the new statutory right that parents will have to two weeks’ worth of parental bereavement leave and in certain scenarios, statutory parental bereavement pay, from 6 April 2020. This is applicable in the truly devastating scenario when employed parents lose a child below the age of 18 or suffer a stillbirth from the 24th week of pregnancy.
